Washing Recommendations

Wool loves warm water, mild soap, and a little patience. Treat it kindly and it will outlive both of us.

Finished skeins from the mill

Our skeins are already wash-set. Before knitting, soak in lukewarm water with a splash of wool wash for 20 minutes, then squeeze (never wring) and dry flat.

Finished garments

  • Fill a basin with lukewarm water (not hot; not cold).
  • Add a capful of no-rinse wool wash.
  • Submerge; do not agitate.
  • Soak 15–20 minutes.
  • Press water out gently. Roll in a towel to blot.
  • Reshape flat on a dry towel. Turn once during drying.

What to avoid

Sudden temperature changes and agitation are what turn wool into felt. Skip the washing machine unless the yarn is labeled superwash, and give any garment plenty of room to breathe between wearings.
